Bear Your Burden
Paul tells the Galatians to bear one another’s burdens at the same time to bear your own burden.
Jesus tells us to take His yoke upon us, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Before that He tells us to cast all of our cares upon Him for He cares for us; our burden that we bear is easy, it is our faith in Christ Jesus. It is us choosing to believe in Him because as He bears our sin, He says that He gives us rest for our souls. Our soul is our mind, will and emotions. How many times does our mind get plagued with fear and worry? How many times do we wrestle with are we doing God’s will or our will? How many times do our emotions get overwhelmed?
Jesus says He has rest for our souls. We need that rest.
We are all familiar with the verse that says we are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers, not to have fellowship with unrighteousness and darkness; the reason is because the fruit of being unequally yoked together with unbelievers is darkness; it is immorality. It is fear. It is hatred, pride, worry, strife. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience…etc. We must stay yoked with Jesus Christ, with the fellowship of our brethren. This is rest for our souls.
