The Peace of God and Sermon 2 When Uncertainty Clouds Victory

Passage: Philippians 4:4-19
Service Type:

There is a peace that passes all understanding, and it comes solely through Jesus Christ.  There is nothing to be compared to it.  He gave us that peace knowing that we would face hard times, knowing that the doubt would come, knowing that we would fall into sin, sometimes over and over and over again.

Before Jesus died on the cross, He gave the disciples a final discourse, a final sermon to help hold their faith in Him even though He was leaving them for a few days.  The disciples at the time didn’t understand why Jesus had to die on the cross; they were focused on rebuilding Israel, making it a great and powerful nation under the mighty King Jesus.  What they didn’t know was that Jesus wanted all of the world to be saved.  He died for all of our sins, not just the sins of one nation.

Thomas doubted.  Peter denied Jesus, and all of the disciples ran in fear the night Jesus was arrested.  I am sure they felt like the purpose God had for them was gone; that this was over.  They probably felt like they lost everything when Jesus died on the cross, but the truth was that Jesus was changing the world, and in only 3 days, they would see it, they had only to hold onto the words of Jesus: do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.  My peace I give you.

Jesus gave them peace, and He is telling you today, do not let uncertainty cloud your victory.  Receive His peace.
