God’s Word Series Sermon 9 Fellowship

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Hebrews 10:25
Service Type:

Have you ever thought about how the world has adopted Christian terms lately?  Even if a word has several meanings, it is crucial that we understand the spirit behind the conversation.  Not every good conversation that sounds spiritual is actually from the Lord.  Be aware when you are speaking to the world that you are harmless as a dove, yet still wise as a serpent.  Don’t waste time and cast your pearls before swine where they would turn and rend you, minister to those the Holy Spirit is directing you toward.

Fellowship as a believer is a close relationship, a companionship of believers in the Body of Christ united by our faith in Christ Jesus.  When our fellowship becomes entwined with darkness, things can get confusing very quickly.  We are not meant to be schizophrenic Christians, living in darkness and light.  We are called to be light in the darkness.  You may not feel joy and peace as you are facing trials and tribulations; you may be going through a very difficult time right now, and it can feel like the darkness of this world is overwhelming your faith, but don’t give up.

That is a prime example of why we need fellowship with God and fellowship with other believers.  We all struggle, but if we are not honest with each other, then how can we help each other?  How can I encourage you if you don’t tell me what you are going through, and vice versa?  Even me as a pastor writing this introduction to the sermon, I have believers in my life that know my struggles and shortcomings and faults, yet they still pray, love and encourage me every day.  We need each other in this fight with darkness; do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together, especially in these dark days before the Lord’s return.
