Faith and Obedience – Part 3 and God’s Word Series – Jesus the Same
We have talked about how Noah and Abraham had faith and obedience to God and followed through with what God spoke to them. Today we are reading about the unnamed prophet who did hear from the Lord, watched His Word mightily fulfilled, then was led away by a false word. It is critical for us to keep our faith in the Word that God has spoken to us; the devil wants to deceive us, people with sin in their hearts want us to do what they want us to do, not always what God wants us to do. Keep your heart aligned with God’s will by keeping His Word close to your heart. If He spoke to you, He does not change.
Jesus is the same yesterday, and today and for ever. FOREVER. Think about that. He does not change his mind, even if we have changed ours. He does not give up on us even if we have given up on Him. He does not run away but rather runs after us.
The Hebrews were challenged to give up their faith and coexist with Jews who wanted them to deny Jesus, and they were fearful of the persecution that was a fearful trial for their families; but the writer of Hebrews encourages them that nothing is greater than the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. Unbelievers would still partake in old tradition, but that old tradition would not give them eternal life. Persecution is temporary, but being with God in heaven, that is eternal. What will you choose today? Will you believe in satisfying the needs of your life on earth, or will you have faith and pick up the cross to live eternally with the Father?
It is time to decide.
