In Sermon 4 of this series, we are hearing more truths that Jesus is telling the disciples.  In John 16:12, He makes an important statement; He says, "There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it now."

What a powerful statement!  Jesus is telling them that He is going away, but He will return; they are not understanding that in just a few days, Jesus would raise from the dead having conquered death and hell.  How many times does Jesus do the same for those who are not filled with the Holy Spirit?  He gives them the truth, knowing that the Holy Spirit will reveal to each person at just the right time the truth of God's Word.  For us, there are times when we cannot bear a certain word of the Lord, so He waits until He knows you are ready, then He tells you what the future holds.

Our eyes must be opened spiritually to understand these things, and the love of God does that through the Holy Spirit's work in our lives.  When you think God is not working in someone's life, keep praying!  God is working in ways we can only imagine.
