The Prodigal Son and The Faith of Abraham
The prodigal son left home, never to return, but his father waited, and waited, and waited. It took trials and complete loss for the prodigal son to realize that he had a father who loved him. Then he made the decision-hard, but done by faith-to return home.
You may be far away, but God is waiting for you; His love is right there, waiting for you to realize it, waiting for you to receive it.
Maybe you haven’t reached rock bottom; maybe you are enjoying the things of this world so much that the thought of serving the Lord is foreign. Maybe you grew up in church, maybe you didn’t. Maybe you don’t even know who Jesus is, or that the heavenly Father is calling you. Well, He is. He is calling you to Him. He is telling you that He loves you and that you are not alone. Turn to Him.
This turning is a start, a beginning of your faith in the Lord Jesus, knowing that He gave His life for your sins, but then rose again on the third day to set you and I free, free forever. Jesus doesn’t just want servants, He wants friends. He is reaching out to your heart, whether you are the prodigal son, or the son who has stayed at home faithfully serving the Father. He wants you to know that He loves you. He loves you.
